The Mercedes-Benz exhibit at the Paris auto show will highlight the world premiere of the S 63 AMG and CL 63 AMG, not to mention the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition super sports car will grace the stage.

The new CL 63 AMG packs 525bhp (631Nm of torque) into a 6.2-litre V8, which is made entirely of aluminum. Although the top speed is limited to 155 mph, the 0-60 mph time clocks in at 4.6 seconds. With ten new high-performance AMG models, the CL 63 represents the highlight of AMG’s 2006 model initiative.

Highlights being exhibited also include the completely redeveloped 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system, which is receiving its first outing in the S-Class. The advent of the S 320 CDI 4MATIC sees Mercedes-Benz offer all-wheel drive in combination with diesel power for the first time in the S Class.

The Mercedes-Benz exhibit will also include the new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition super sports car, which was developed in close alliance with Formula 1 specialists McLaren.

Does “722″ sound familiar? It should. Remember the 1955 Mille Miglia victory by motor-racing legend Stirling Moss and co-pilot Dennis Jenkinson at the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR? Their start number was 722 and represented their start time at 7:22 a.m.

The SLR McLaren 722 is packed with power; supercharged 5.5-litre V8 powerplant generating 650 hp giving the super car phenomenal performance. The SLR 722 sprints from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.6 seconds. The acceleration times surpass the figures for the successful SLR, which Mercedes-Benz will continue to product.
