Nick,

Try the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Irvin, CA (if you haven't already):
http://www.mbusa.com/heritage/classic-center-california.do

Phone: 866-622-5277

They might not have it, but they should be able to tell you where to find it.

PS: We moving the AMG Mercedes-Benz blog to a new URL, which you can visit now if you like:
http://www.amgmarket.com (website)
http://www.amgmarket.com/amg/ (blog; you can <a href="http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=802114" rel="nofollow">subscribe here</a> and receive email updates (no updates, no email)

Rick,

I stuck to the original equipment for my R107 (a 1972 SL 4.5 liter V-8, 300k plus miles) but I'll ask around and get back to you. Until you hear back from me, try these R107 websites:

Looking for cost- effective ways to upgrade/improve 1979 mercedes 450sl handling performance - car is first rate. well maintained, original (79K miles) condition. Also, if possible, rcommendation on best summer performance and winter tires for this car, as well as optimal sizes for handling. If I've got the wrong folks for questions like this, perhaps you would be kind enough to point me in the right direction for answers.
Thanks a lot,
Rick Rolf

[...] Have it your way. When AMG’s high-performance modifications just aren’t enough for you, now you can request special equipment and additional components directly from Stuttgart. Mercedes-Benz’s AMG division is creating a Performance Studio to support enthusiast models. During an interview with Volk Mornhinweb, CEO of AMG, conducted by Alistair Weaver (Edmunds’ Inside Line), MBUSA clarifies their direction. In a recent MBUSA press release Mornhinweb said, “We are receiving ever more requests for more dynamic models, special equipment features and specific components. The Performance Studio makes it possible for us to meet these requests in particular models. We plan to transfer technologies, from cars like the FIA safety car and the medical car used in F1 from the racetrack, into these high-end models.” [...]
