W124 Climate Control Vacuum Pod Replacement (Experienced DIY’ers Only)
The first three digits of the chassis number specify the general body style (i.e.123). The next digit generally indicates whether the vehicle is gas (0) or Diesel (1) – this rule is not absolute and has certainly been violated. The next two digits indicate the specific version of the body style. In the case of 123s, if the last two digits are 9X, it should be a wagon.
